I live in a freaking oven. Actually, this whole damn state is an oven.
I think this is the worst summer, so far anyways. There might still be time for the season to redeem itself. But this requires LOTS of clouds and RAIN. LESS sun. SUN=EVIL right now.
It’s iced latte mania here lately at casa de Jaclyn. And that is all fine and good because that way I get my RDA of calcium in. See, I’m justifying already. The bad thing is that of course I have been adding sugar to these things. But let me say that I’m using less sugar than I normally would. And today, I have even mixed half sugar and half Truvia. And as I’m drinking right now, I know this is going to take some getting used to. The Truvia, that is. I hate fake sugar and I’m trying to tell myself that it’s not so bad. I have managed to fool my taste buds into thinking that Splenda in my reduced-sugar oatmeal is fine. And that is working as long as I only eat one serving at a time. The taste is not as detectable that way.
In other sugar related news, I have purchased myself a tube of Reli-On glucose tablets. I haven’t tried one yet because of the gross tasting factor. Which makes no sense, I know. I’d probably be eating them like they were going out of style if they were called orange candy tablets. They are in my bag in for the next episode of “I’m about to kill someone if I don’t eat soon”. Any opinions on these?
*update*
Okay, halfway through this latte and the taste is grossing me out. Thinking I might have to go cold-turkey on this. We’ll probably find out in ten years that stevia makes you bald or something anyways.
During my last trip to Baltimore, I had the pleasure of visiting the American Visionary Art Museum. This was my second time there in less than a year. I really do love this place and wish there was something with this vibe in Florida. If there is, I have yet to find it.
Some of these pictures are pretty crappy because of the lighting mostly but I figured I’d put em up anyways.
This egg can occupy a lot of your time if you let it.
There is something that has really prevented me from posting here. I know what it is and it’s really just a matter of me getting over it and pushing it away, not letting it bug me so the way it is bugging me. I’m thinking just by putting it out there like this will help.
When we first got to Maryland, it was a little cooler than we anticipated it to be. Neither of us brought a real jacket. The best protection from the elements that I had with me was a light-weight hoodie ala Target. He had packed absolutely nothing like that, plus he takes the cold a little better than me.
So, as we were embarking on our first day of DC adventures, we decided that maybe we better go run to the local Target and get something else to keep us a little warmer.
But, being the thrifty gal that I am, of course I had noticed a Value Village while out the night before. OH MY GOD, Value Village. Uh, I had to try it. It was calling my name. Plus bargains galore.
Well, the Value Village in College Park was a mad house. Seriously, pure chaos. I just wanted a jacket for cheap. The weird thing about this place was the amount of creepy people hanging out there. No matter what I was looking at, one of these individuals was at my side. Very close. Weird. Evan noticed it too. He kept checking for his wallet. Meh. But anyways, I walked out with a $7 coat that isn’t too ugly. Evan found himself a sweet fleece vest for $4.
I just listened to all of the Goo Goo Dolls Superstar Car Wash. And when I say all, I mean I deleted all the songs that Robbie sings and then listened to it. Heh. It’s 80’s but early 90’s all at the same time.
Don’t laugh but I watched You’ve Got Mail at 1 am this morning.
